Mr. Toppo, owner of The Toppo Law Firm, LLC is an attorney with over 25 years of experience in the law. Currently, he specializes in civil and criminal litigation including trial practice. During his career, Mr. Toppo has handled a variety of matters for corporate and private clients, including criminal defense, construction/commercial contract disputes, insurance coverage, personal injury, and real estate litigation. Mr. Toppo is admitted to practice law in all the state and federal courts of New York and has appeared pro hac vice in several state jurisdictions in which he has litigated and tried high exposure construction accident and general personal injury cases. Mr. Toppo is a certified continuing legal education instructor specializing in matters involving the Labor Law of the State of New York, and in other jurisdictions such as Georgia. In addition to his trial experience, he has prosecuted both civil and criminal appeals in the State of New York and the federal courts.

 

    Early on in his career, Mr. Toppo was appointed to serve as a judicial law clerk in the criminal court of the City of New York, and served as an assistant district attorney in Queens County, New York, and as a special assistant district attorney in the New York City office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor where he handled and managed complex investigations for law enforcement. Mr. Toppo has served on the felony and appellate panels of New York City’s assigned counsel program. Additionally, Mr. Toppo served as an administrative law judge on a major municipal commission in New York City.

    Mr. Toppo’s civil practice experience includes associations with New York City law firms since his admission to the bar, and as partner in a prominent midtown Manhattan law firm that litigates insurance matters for a variety of major insurance companies and construction companies. Mr. Toppo has represented tri-state area businesses in commercial stock sales transactions and private clients in commercial and residential real estate closings and litigation.

    Mr. Toppo is an adjunct law professor Felician University in Lodi, New Jersey, and at Bergen County Community College in Paramus, NJ as well.
